Each Spring, students at St. James School and Catholic schools throughout the Diocese of Pittsburgh take the IOWA Assessments, a group-administered achievement test that measures academic achievement in core academic subjects. These tests assess our students' knowledge that they have learned and retained through classroom instruction at St. James.
Each year, results from these tests show that students at St. James consistently perform significantly above grade level.
“Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth." --St. John Paul II
At St. James, our faculty creates lessons for students that embrace faith and reason while emphasizing critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. It is our goal that the whole person of each student -body, mind, and soul- develop and flourish in their time at St. James. Faith and traditional values are woven throughout our lessons, with an emphasis placed on critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. Our curriculum follows and adheres to the standards of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the educational guidelines of the Diocese of Pittsburgh.
