Third Grade News
Our
Third Graders had a coloring contest to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr.
Day. The top three participants were
selected by Sr. Diane and Sr. Christy.
The top three students are: Macrae Halusczak, First Place, Brett Gregory, Second Place and
Victoria Gevaudan, Third Place. All of the Third Graders did a great job
and this was not an easy contest to judge.
Congratulations Macrae, Brett and Victoria!

A huge Thank you to the Kuntz family for the great anatomical
pieces that were donated to the Science Lab.
We will use these interesting materials for both the animal unit as
well as the human biology unit.

annual Dinner/Dance/Auction. Enjoy the music of the 60's and 70's, friends,

Our team did an OUTSTANDING job at
our latest tournament this last Saturday at St. Maurice! We finished in FIFTH
place overall (matching our placing from the last tournament), but notably
received 34 more points this time (85 this time versus 51 previously).

SJS Cub Scouts
Compete in the Fast Lanes
This past Saturday, January 23, Cub Scout Pack 243 held their annual Pinewood
Derby Races. Ryan McNelis car placed
3rd in overall performance, qualifying him to compete in the District finals,
and Gavin Ward, 4th Grade, won a 2nd Place design award for his car. Also participating in the competition was
Jack Bulera, 1st grade. Way to go
boys!

Come One, Come ALL - to the St.
James Science Fair!
Please mark your calendars and plan to attend the St.
James Science Fair to take place on Monday,
March 22nd from 5:30 until 7:30 PM in the school gymnasium. The format will be set up like an open
house, with cookies and refreshments.
All of the 7th and 8th grade students will have their science presentation
boards set up on tables in the gym for all to enjoy. The 7th and 8th grade students will be on
hand to answer questions about their projects and enlighten all interested!
We will also be having another question and answer
session on Tuesday March, 23rd in the
morning (9am -11am) for St. James students in grades K-6. You are welcome to attend this session as
well.
Please plan on joining us and supporting this
exciting and important scientific event for St. James! This event is open and welcome to all
interested; we will be posting information in the coming weeks and
months. If you might be interested in
donating juice or cookies for the evening event - that would be great! Please

Varsity Girls
Basketball
As a coach you hope to have a game when it all comes
together: Teamwork, communication, defense, playing time and scoring.
Saturday, January 23rd, the St. James Varsity Girls had such a game. St. James played host to Divine Mercy and
the girls came out firing. St. James won 38 to 16. Every player scored
Annamae-12pts, Heidi-10pts, Cora-3pts, Maddie W-3pts, Maddie G-2pts,
Hannah-2pts, Carlyle -2pts, Elizabeth-2pts and Katie I-2pts. It was truly a
team effort on all aspects of the game. Congratulations girls, job well done.
