Did you
know you can give from your state taxes to our Catholic school? The Educational Improvement Tax Credit
(EITC) program allows you to give up to $300,000 a year to St. James
School. You receive a 90% tax credit if you give
for two consecutive years. The money
goes to help needy families with tuition assistance. You can specify that the tuition assistance
be given exclusively to students attending St. James.
There
is state tax credit money available July 1, 2010. You can call Sr. Diane Cauley,
one of our School Administrators, for more information. Or also feel free to call Dr. Ron Bowes at
the diocese, 412-456-3090 and just mention tax credits. He will provide you with all the
information you need.
Finally,
you can also go to www.newpa.com and click on Educational Improvement Tax
Credits. Businesses fill out Appendix I SO and fax to 717-772-3581.

Fourth Grade are Stars

On Friday, March
19th, the fourth graders performed two reader's theatre plays, "Blame it
on the Wolf" and "Food Wars", for their family members and
friends. We asked that each person
donate a dollar which would then go towards a charity. Our plays were a huge success! I am very proud of the way the children
read fluently with loud and clear voices, used expression, acted their
part(s), worked together as a team, and were brave enough to present in front
of an audience! It was truly amazing!
With the help
of generous donations we were able to raise $40.00 for a very special
charity! The children were so excited
to have raised that much money. As a
class we decided to donate the money to Chimbote. Each fourth grader took a dollar bill,
lined up in the third grade classroom, and explained to the third graders
that we wanted to help their charity and the Chimbote mission by donating the
$40.00. The third graders were
surprised and grateful! I asked the
fourth graders how they felt. I heard
a lot of students say, "I feel good about myself." I told them that I too love that feeling!
