PARKINSON’S AWARENESS DANCE ALL
ARE WELCOME!
On Friday, April 16th eighth grader Annamae Bolen is inviting all St. James students and families to a dance to raise awareness for Parkinson’s Disease (PD). PD is a movement disorder, so having a dance-which requires movement- is an easy way to raise awareness for this incurable disease. The dance is from 6:30- 9:00pm in the SJS gym. There will be a dance contest and a bake sale. Cost is $5/person or $10/family. Proceeds to benefit Parkinson’s Outreach programs. *Note-
Students in grades 5 and below must have an adult chaperone with them at the
dance. Students in
grade 6-8 will need to be signed IN and OUT of the dance by a parent. Please come and support this worthy cause! JV Soccer
The St. James JV Soccer team had their first game of the spring season this past Sunday against a tough opponent, St. John of Monaca. The Cougars are led by the returning 6th graders from the fall season: Kyle Cardwell, Brandon George, Mason Grimes, Stephen Jancart, Harrison Kuchtjak, Colin Neville, Lauren Padalino, and Gabrielle Zernich. Also returning from the fall season were 5th graders Gabrielle Gevaudan, Sarita Kunde, Ryan McNelis, and Julianna Nicolaus. They are pleased to welcome 6th graders Colin Hill and Michela Stasa and 5th graders Katie Conry, Matt Rooney, and Helen Urffer to the team this spring.
The first half of the game was highlighted by great
defensive efforts by the Cougars and quick deep strikes by the offense. Their defensive efforts held their
opposition to one goal in the middle of the half, but the offense was not
able to convert any of their scoring opportunities. In the second half, the Cougars settled
into a more comfortable control of midfield and mounted good sustained
pressure in the opponent’s end.
Despite their pressure,
After the game, the coaches praised the team for their hard work and sustained efforts throughout the game. The level of teamwork and unselfish play was admirable. Even though it is recorded as a loss, this first game will count as part of building a strong foundation for the remainder of our season. Varsity opens up season with big win over

Dear Parents,
Last

As you know, in the 2009-2010 budget, the EITC Program was cut by $15 million, making the
program a total of $60 million. A few
weeks ago, Governor Rendell introduced a 2010-2011 budget
that cut the EITC Program by an additional $10 million – which would make the
EITC a $50 million total program in 2010-2011.
Our goal for this campaign is to
demonstrate overwhelming parent, school, business, community and national
support for funding restoration for the EITC Program.
